Description
The Labor Relations (LR) department is seeking a Senior Administrative Assistant for an exciting position with potential for future growth. This position will be the first point of contact for the LR office, providing organization, infrastructure and administrative support to Labor Relations staff as well as the departments and union representatives of Hennepin County. This position will also provide support on intergovernmental committees and task forces that address issues related to labor relations and will have the opportunity to learn the details of contract administration, grievance handling and labor negotiations and will be assigned increasing levels of responsibility to coordinate and analyze strategic planning.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the 625 Building at 625 4th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55415, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will typically be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.
New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

In this position, you will:
· Serve as a spokesperson and decision maker with external partners, committees, and task forces.
· Lead or facilitate organization-wide or community committees and/or task forces with authority to act on Labor Relation’s behalf.
· Recommend policy and procedure review, propose, and evaluate complex policy alternatives.
· Investigate and recommend action regarding labor relations workforce complaints, operations, policies, or procedures and assist in resolving complex organizational issues.
· Coordinate and develop strategy related to Hennepin County partners involving labor relations.
· Manage the department's information infrastructure including our external website, the internal SharePoint site and refinement of our grievance tracking system and reporting capabilities.
· Coordinate and manage all information requests related to grievances and negotiations.
· Manage the department budget in conjunction with the Chief Labor Relations Officer.
· Serve as a point of contact for the Labor Relations department, field calls from unions, departments and employees and schedule grievance, negotiations and meet and confer meetings.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Eight or more years of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position.
o Bachelor's degree or higher in public administration, business administration, or other field appropriate to the position and four years of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position.
