Description
The Adult Representation Services (ARS) department is seeking to hire a Client Resource Advocate to be part of a legal team that provides representation to clients in a variety of civil proceedings such as representation of parents in child protection cases, tenants in evictions proceedings, non-custodial parents in child support contempt proceedings, respondents or persons subject to guardianship in guardianship and conservatorship cases, and individuals facing civil commitment. This position will work alongside clients and provide early intervention, assistance navigating legal systems, peer mentorship to parents at risk for child protection involvement and connection to community-based resources to accomplish short-term identified goals that promote stability and self-sufficiency. The position is also a key role in our prevention, outreach, and community engagement efforts. The Adult Representation Services department provides high-quality, holistic representation to clients experiencing poverty in certain civil matters where appointment of counsel is necessary to protect a fundamental right or to further the county’s mission of reducing disparities and promoting the stability of residents. Location and hours:
This position is located onsite at the Health Services Building, 525 Portland Avenue South, Suite 900, Minneapolis MN 55415. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with some flexibility.

In this position, you will:
· Provide short-term, resource interventions based on client need.
· Help clients navigate and obtain services.
· Advocate for clients by providing a voice with social service agencies and community-based resources.
· Engage attorneys when legal issues arise.
· Keep attorney informed on status of the case and need for additional support services.
· Provide mentorship to individuals at risk for child protection involvement.
· Cultivate relationships with community-based resource providers.
· Be available for court hearings to address emergent client needs.
· Participate in outreach and tabling events for ARS.
· Enter and maintain documentation of client work in case management system.
Need to have: One of the following:
· Two or more of responsible, paid social service experience providing direct client service.
· A two-year human services certificate.
· Two or more years of college coursework in the behavioral sciences field.
Nice to have: Experience with:
· Providing short-term resource interventions with individuals who are experiencing poverty.
· Directly providing resource navigation with diverse communities.
· Documenting work and client engagement in an electronic case management system.
· Working in a legal setting, with attorneys, and/or supporting individuals at court.
· Bilingual skills in a second language in addition to English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to:
· Working effectively with external and internal partners, including attorneys and community-based resource providers.
· Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
