The Emergency Shelter area of Hennepin County's Health and Human Services needs you! We are seeking multiple temporary Case Management Assistants to join a team of non-congregate shelter workers. The Case Management Assistants will help new immigrants arriving in Minnesota, understanding various programs and systems available to them as new Minnesotans.
In these positions, you will:
Work with various diverse communities who may have mental health, substance use disorders, and trauma.
Interact with clients face-to-face by greeting clients upon arrival, signing them in and out, providing orientation, answering questions, assisting with maintenance requests, distributing meals, communicating expectations, and connecting to community resources.
Work with colleagues and security to provide a safe and secure environment.
Document all shift activities, progress reports, and enter client’s assessments into a specific database.
Work directly with clients in scheduling appointments for services including health care, social service providers, immigration, etc.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Two years or more of responsible, paid social service experience providing direct client service.
A two-year human services certificate.
Two years or more of college coursework in the behavioral sciences.
Access to reliable transportation to travel to service sites within Hennepin County.
Nice to have:
Working directly with individuals experiencing homelessness or newly arrived immigrants.
Working in a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and strong time management skills.
Using electronic filing systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams).
Knowledge of community resources and social services available to clients.
Strong people skills and the ability to work effectively and communicate with individuals from a variety of cultural and lifestyle backgrounds in a respectful and non-judgmental manner.
Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
Establish and maintain professional working relationships with clients, staff, and the public.
