Description
The Communications department is seeking a Communications Service Manager to manage staff, projects, and campaigns; lead continuous process improvement and evaluation; set customer service standards and supports; and guide work management tool administration for the department. This position will report to the Communications deputy director and supervise a small team of project and content managers, collaborating closely with Communications staff and leaders, and interact with customers, vendors, and other partners. The individual hired will support the successful creation of products and services by creative, digital, and communication professionals to meet business and resident needs. This manager will help reduce disparities and drive the department’s commitments to serving with excellence, centering people, and advancing operations. Location and hours: This position is hybrid and will be performed both remotely and on-site at the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487, as job duties require. This position has a primary schedule of Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with flexibility to respond to business needs on evenings and weekends. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin. New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment. Manage people, projects, and campaigns, support the successful scope, development, and completion of work by creative, digital, and communication professionals.
Evaluate work management processes on a regular basis used by the department, by identifying and leading areas for improvement in partnership with department leaders, staff, and teams.
Collaborate to set customer service standards for the department, develop related staff supports, and evaluate effectiveness using customer feedback mechanisms.
Guide work management tool (Workfront) development and adoption efforts for the department to enhance user and customer experiences.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Nine years or more of experience related to managing communications projects and campaigns.
Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration or other related field and five years or more experience related to managing communications projects and campaigns.
Nice to have:
Experience:
Providing account and or customer relations service.
Supervising and leading teams.
Managing complex marketing and advertising campaigns/projects to successful completion.
Using Workfront or similar work management tools, such as WorkBook or Smart Sheet.
Ability to:

Think critically, problem-solving with care and diplomacy.
Manage timelines and workflows efficiently, showing strong attention to detail.
