Description
The Juvenile Probation division of the Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCCR) is seeking a Corrections Unit Supervisor. This position will provide oversight for the South Unit. As a member of the Juvenile Probation Leadership Team, this position will establish and implement standards for staff performance, quality assurance, and professional development.Hennepin County DOCCR employees in the Corrections Unit Supervisor job classification are encouraged to apply to be considered for a lateral transfer.

Location and hours: This position is hybrid and will be performed onsite at 525 Portland Ave, Suite 260, Minneapolis, MN 55415, in the community within Hennepin County, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and may include some non-traditional hours. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

In this position, you will:
· Provide direct supervision to Probation Officers within the Growth Focused Case Management Framework.
· Hire new employees, manage performance, and complete performance evaluations, while utilizing the Supervisor Coaching model.
· Support Evidence Based Practices (EBP) efforts and effectively communicate and implement changes to the unit.
· Serve as a resource and promote relationships with stakeholders, DOCCR, and other criminal justice partners including schools, employment agencies, housing resources, etc.
· Facilitate staff meetings, projects, committees, case consultations, and unit specific trainings.
· Provide leadership to further department-based strategies that align with county goals, mission and core values for diversity, equity & inclusion.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Master's degree or higher in criminal justice, behavioral/social science, social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, law enforcement, education, business, correctional or public administration or an equivalent field and two years or more of full-time equivalent work experience as a probation/parole officer, correctional officer/juvenile correctional officer, sentencing to service crew leader, social worker, or as a supervisor in a correctional or residential treatment setting.
o Bachelor's degree in one of the above fields and three years or more of the experience listed above.
o Bachelor's degree in a non-related field and four years or more of the experience listed above.
o Seven years or more of the experience listed above.
· Note: Completion of an Evidence-Based Practice Corrections Professional Certificate from an approved school may be substituted for one year of relevant coursework or one year of relevant experience.
· A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.
Nice to have:
· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook or similar email system, Minnesota Government Access (MGA), Juvenile Interstate Data System (JIDS), and Court Services Tracking System (CSTS) or similar information system.
· Related supervisory experience.
· Knowledge and experience with:
o Evidence Based Practices as it relates to providing services to youth and young adults on probation supervision or in a correctional environment.
o Understanding of Growth Focused Case Management Framework.
o Interfacing with adult and/or juvenile court partners.
o Working with youth and young adults in the community.
o Working within a client centered case management framework.
o Policies and procedures that govern the work done by Juvenile Probation Division and DOCCR.
o Working with community partners.
o Development stages of young adults.
o Working effectively with customers or clients from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
o Implementing DEI initiatives or a strong desire to learn and engage in these efforts
· Ability to:
o Demonstrate a commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in their work and interactions.
o Actively contribute to creating a workplace that values diversity and inclusion.
o Design and implement administrative methods and techniques.
o Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
o Work effectively and collaboratively with collateral supports.
