DescriptionHuman Services Financial Analysis and Accounting area is seeking to fill a Credit Collections Representative to join their team. Current Hennepin County employees who refer a candidate hired into an open competitive position may be eligible for a $500 referral bonus. For more information visit the employee referral program page. Effective January 1, 2023, there will be a salary increase of 2.5% to the minimum and maximum of the salary range. Location and hours: This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site an average of 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., with flexibility. While this position is designated as remote, based on current requirements hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin. New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment. Respond to inquiries from clients to explain charges, answer questions, resolve problems, and negotiate payment plans.
Negotiate, collect, calculate, and monitor client repayment agreements.
Maintain accurate client records and accounts in multiple computer systems; input, retrieve, and modify information.
Review, audit, and process a variety of collection and billing reports.
Research and determine appropriate collection methods (e.g., revenue recapture, judgment by operation of law, bankruptcy, garnishment, and personal service).
Post payments; calculate interest and adjustments.
Need to have:
Two or more years of clerical experience involving the obtaining and evaluating of financial or closely related information.
Nice to have:
Experience:
Performing accounts receivable tasks.
Working with client records containing highly confidential information.
Storing client records according to specified security procedures.
Working with computer systems such as PeopleSoft, Minnesota Medicaid Information System (MMIS), Minnesota Department of Revenue's revenue recapture databases, and/or State of Minnesota's MAXIS eligibility system.
Performing collection process and working with difficult collection situations.
With Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PeopleSoft Financials, Business Intelligence (BI), or a similar electronic accounting system.
Performing math computations rapidly and accurately.
Responding to inquiries and explaining a variety of requirements, policies, and procedures by telephone, email, and written correspondence.
Ability to:
Communicate effectively with staff, clients, and the general public; good verbal and written communication skills.
Work well in a team environment.
Set priorities and meet deadlines; good organizational skills.
