Description
The Hennepin County Housing and Economic Development department is seeking candidates for a Home Inspector position in the Housing Development and Finance division. This position will assist with implementation of residential home improvement grants and work within the Healthy Homes program to help protect families from lead-based paint and other hazards. Location and hours:
This position will be performed onsite both at 701 4th Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55415 and other locations throughout the county to complete inspections with other team members. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with some flexibility and may extend to 6 p.m. on some days.

In this position, you will:
· Inspect homes and properties throughout the county with other members of the team.
· Perform lead-based paint inspections/risk assessments and clearance inspections in residential dwelling units.
· Prepare lead-based paint inspection/risk assessment and clearance reports.
· Perform Continuous Radon Monitor testing.
· Prepare Radon Test results reports.
· Monitor and maintain all inspection related supplies and equipment for the division.
· Input case and inspection information into the database.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Bachelor's degree or higher in urban/city planning, housing, business administration, public administration; research methods, statistics; behavioral/social science; public health; computer science/MIS or management science; or a field appropriate to the area of specialization.
o Bachelor's degree or higher in any field and a minimum of two courses in research methods, analysis, statistics, project management, planning, or evaluation and one year or more of relevant planning analyst experience (e.g., analysis, evaluation, and/or project management).
· A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o Completing home inspections.
o Completing lead-based paint assessments.
o With radon measurement testing.
o Performing home energy audits.
o With residential construction.
o Knowledge of:
o Housing and building codes.
o Building science.
o Microsoft Office Suites, such as Excel and Access.
o Ability to:
o Demonstrate effective analytical and critical thinking skills.
o Work independently and in a team environment.
o Climb and stand on ladders for prolonged periods of time to perform maintenance on building systems or equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
o The following licenses:
o Minnesota Department of Health Lead Risk Assessor License.
o Minnesota Department of Health Lead Abatement Supervisor License.
o Minnesota Department of Health Radon Measurement Professional License.
