NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center is seeking an experienced Infection Control Nurse to join our team. As an Infection Control Nurse, you will be an important part of the work that we do to support the health of our community. In this role, you will serve as the infection control coordinator for NorthPoint. You will lead the infection control program which includes employee health operations, policies and procedures, ensuring infection prevention, and maintaining infection control protocols.
Location and hours:
This position is located at the NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center at 2220 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55411. Work hours are typically Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., but with some flexibility required. Some evening hours until 7 p.m. and rotating Saturday hours from 8 a.m. until noon may be required. Based on current requirements hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.
In this position, you will:
Participate in developing, writing, and implementing program operations, policies, and procedures pertaining to infection control issues.
Maintain a routine surveillance program of patients, staff, and the environmental problems that present a real or potential threat to the welfare of patients, staff, visitors, and the community.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the Infection Control Program to ensure that standard precautions are being implemented and used when necessary.
Review literature and research findings to keep abreast of current infectious diseases and infection prevention, nursing care standards, state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
Chair the Infection Control Committee meetings and work closely with primary care providers, pharmacy, and leadership.
Need to have:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
A valid license, in good standing, as a registered nurse, or a permit to practice, issued by the State of Minnesota.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
Current CPR certification.
Nice to have:
Three or more years of experience as a registered nurse in a health care setting, preferably with infection control.
Experience providing basic nursing skills techniques, such as: injections, IV therapy, minor procedures, and staff supervision.
Ability to:
Work with multiple providers, staff, and collaborative partners with differing needs and opinions to improve the care to diverse, underserved, and at-risk populations with a variety of cultural and language barriers.
Be cross trained to work in other areas of the medical clinic.
Multi-task and work in a stressful environment.
