Description
The Hennepin County Information Technology (IT) department is seeking two IT Business Analyst Interns. These positions will work with the IT Business Solutions Business Analysis team on various sized projects and will assist current business analysts with their work which may include gathering requirements, documenting processes, facilitating meetings, and assisting with the creation of business analyst artifacts. The interns may also work with project managers on limited tasks. This position requires a level three security check as a requirement for employment. Location and hours: These positions are remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours are Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. The interns will work approximately 20 hours/week. This internship will start in January 2024 and will last 6 months in duration with the potential to extend. While these positions are designated as remote, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota.About the position type: These positions are a part-time non-benefit earning internship.These positions are internally classified as an Intern II.Click here to view the job classification specification. · Assist with preparation and facilitation of meetings, working sessions and presentations.
· Consult with other business analysts to contribute to the development and definition of business requirements, needs, and opportunities for improvement.
· Assist with elicitation, analysis, documentation, validation and user acceptance of requirements and business processes.
· Learn standard methods for requirement elicitation, traceability, and requirement validation, measurement of system performance and analysis of performance measures.
· Assist in the evaluation of Technology Solutions.
Need to have:
· Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate (within 6 months) an IT certificate, vocational, associate, or bachelor's degree program in IT or related fields.
· Access to reliable internet connection and self-support remote office space.
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o With business analysis processes and methodologies/frameworks (Waterfall, Agile).
o Working in an application development environment.
o Crafting a variety of project artifacts such as project definitions, business requirements, feasibility studies, and recommendations.
o As-Is/To-Be process definition and documentation.
o Data Analysis.
o Data flow definition and documentation.
o Research and analysis of solutions, technology trends, and business analysis practices.
o Working with customers or clients from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
o Microsoft products and/or equivalent Google products.
o With providing direction or leadership to others in a school or work setting.
o Providing direction or leadership to others.
· Knowledge of Security, virtual, and cloud concepts.
· Ability to coordinate multiple project deliverables.
