Description
The Data and Analytics team within the Hennepin County Assessor’s Office is seeking summer intern to assist with qualitative and quantitative data projects. The position will assist the Assessor’s Office data and analytics team in a variety of work including data cleansing and analysis, survey review, and other work related to the management of a CAMA (computer assisted mass appraisal) system. This intern will have the opportunity to design queries using existing data and then provide analysis to identify gaps in data coverage between various property groups and municipalities. This intern will also assist in concatenating data from secondary sources and aid in ETL work to update production environments with this characteristic and value information.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the Government Center 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis Minnesota 55418, and remote as job duties require. Work hours are Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. This intern will work 40 hours/week. This internship will start in June 2025 and will last up to 3 months in duration with the potential to extend. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must relocate or reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin.

In this position, you will:
· Assist in determining information and research requirements.
· Collect and enter data and information from various sources
· Modify and maintain data collection forms and procedures.
· Provide assistance with ongoing projects.
· Use computer/statistical software to generate reports.
Need to have: One of the following:
· Current enrollment for the 2025-2026 academic school year as a junior or senior year in a bachelor’s in research methods, statistics, real estate, economics, computer science/MIS, management science, urban/city planning, or another related field
· Current enrollment for the 2025-2026 academic school year in a master’s degree program in research methods, statistics, real estate, economics, computer science/MIS, management science, urban/city planning, or another related field
· Recent graduate (within 6 months from graduation) with a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in research methods, statistics, real estate, economics, computer science/MIS, management science, urban/city planning, or another related field.
Nice to have:
· Experience with:
o Reporting out complex data into an easy-to-follow format.
o Querying and transforming data from large and complex databases using SQL or similar tools.
o Microsoft products or equivalent Google products (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, OneNote, Google Sheets, Calendar, Meet, Docs, Keep)
o Performing qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, and reporting, with the ability to identify outliers.
· Ability to:
o Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
o Maintain employee/participant confidentiality and trust.
o Apply problem-solving skills and make data-informed recommendations for action.
o Present complex data and explain conclusions to laypersons.
