We are seeking a graduate student who is currently enrolled or a recent graduate (within 6 months) with a master's degree program in GIS or related field. This position requires a level 3 security check as a requirement for employment. Location and hours: This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at various Hennepin County facilities and field sites and remote as job duties require. Work hours are Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 pm. This internship will start on May 30th, 2023 and will last up to one year in duration with the potential to extend on a case-by-case basis. This intern will work a minimum of 20 hours/week. No overtime will be allowed. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable after the new employee successfully completes probation. · Assist Geographic Information System (GIS) staff with scanning and rectification of historic imagery.
· Perform field and desktop GIS work to support county fiber optic asset management.
· Work with project manager in support of large-scale GIS efforts.
· Create maps, perform spatial analysis, and manage data.
· Create metadata and technical documentation.
· Other related tasks as assigned.
Need to have:
· Current enrollment or recent graduate (within 6 months) from a master's degree program in GIS or a related field.
· A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver’s permit.
· Access to reliable transportation.
Nice to have:
· 2+ years of experience using Esri ArcGIS platform (ArcPro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Field Maps, and related apps) to create maps, and to collect and manage data.
