Description The Information Technology and Records Management (ITRM) area of Human Services and Public Health is seeking an Information Technology (IT) Developer III to assist with the design, development and support of business intelligence implementations. The ideal candidate will be skilled in data architecture and data modeling (relational/dimensional). This position will participate and mentor other IT staff in business intelligence architecture, analysis, design, development, quality assurance and implementation. Effective January 1, 2023, there will be a general salary adjustment of 2.5% to the minimum and maximum of the range. Location and hours: This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site to a Hennepin County facility in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota an average of 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with flexibility. While this position is designated as remote, based on current requirements, hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin. New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment. Provide support of applications in relevant environments – troubleshoot problems, upgrades, and incremental enhancements.
Interpret business needs to implement new solutions based on Hennepin County standards and industry best practices.
Create technical design specification, test plans, and other support documentation.
Participate in the remediation and/or enhancement of existing software process.
Research and prepare technology recommendations to be presented, both verbally and in writing, to business stakeholders.
Use creative problem solving skills when confronted with issues.
Collaborate with other developers, managers, and customers.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Six or more years of technology experience.
Completion of five college/vocational technical technology courses and five or more years of IT experience.
Completion of approved IT Hennepin County internship and five or more years of IT experience.
Two-year college/vocational technical degree in a technology field or approved information technology certificate and five or more years of IT experience.
Bachelor's degree or higher in a technology field and three or more years of IT experience.
Master's degree or higher in a technology field and one or more years of IT experience.
Nice to have:
Four or more years of experience:
Working with SQL Server or any other database engine such as Oracle.
Designing facts and dimensions for data warehousing.
Developing reports in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or PowerBI.
Developing ETL in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) or Azure Data Factory.
Performing installation, operation, maintenance and debugging computer applications.
Experience with Microsoft Azure:
Designing and implementing data solutions in Azure.
Basic Azure administration with cost management, security etc.
Synapse and Databricks.
Two or more years of experience with:
Varigence BIML, SSAS (tabular or dimensional models), Cognos Framework Manager.
SQL Master Data Services or other metadata management tools.
Version control system preferably GIT and Azure DevOps.
And basic understanding of Agile processes and working on a Scrum team.
Knowledge of scripting language (PowerShell is preferred).
Knowledge of SQL administration, SQL security, and Windows security.
Certification in a leading professional level certification area, such as MCSA, MCSE, IBM, CDMP, etc.
