The Information Technology and Records Management (ITRM) area of the Human Services and Public Health (HSPH) department of Hennepin County is seeking an IT intern to join the electronic forms team. This position will work with various teams and business partners to gather business requirements and support another business analyst. The ITRM area supports, develops, and maintains IT solutions that augment technology provided by the State of Minnesota and the IT Department with a focus on application development.
Location and hours:
This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site an average of 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as remote, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.
In this position, you will:
Consult with other business analysts to contribute to development and definition of business needs and opportunities for improvement.
Participate in gathering requirements and planning projects.
Collaborate with stakeholders via Microsoft Teams, including with a business analyst to discuss progress, questions, obstacles, and solutions.
Learn to create and distribute simple status reports and assist in creating and updating tasks in Microsoft Azure DevOps.
Use Microsoft Excel to track and manage data; create visual reports; format the data for reporting and presentations; potentially create light data analysis and interpretation.
Need to have:
Current enrollment or recently graduated (within 6 months) in a certificate, associate's, bachelor's or master's degree program in IT or a related field.
Access to reliable internet connection and self-support remote office space.
Nice to have:
Experience:
Using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or Google equivalents.
Working with tracking, sorting, and displaying data.
Creating reports.
Providing excellent customer service.
Knowledge of:
Methodologies such as agile and/or equivalent.
Business requirements.
Ability to:
Work collaboratively and effectively with business, customers, developers, quality analysts, etc.
Communicate concisely and clearly.
Work effectively with vendors, departments, and county staff in a professional manner, and be courteous and respectful to others.
Critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze problems and troubleshoot.
