Job Summary:
The role of Lead Engineer/Designer is the main point of contact for the technical aspects of projects and a key contributor to company technical standards. They coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure that projects meet the requirements for scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
Responsibilities:
· Develops in-depth and industry leading knowledge in least one area of subject matter expertise.
· Develops and refines company technical standards (specifications, details, schematics, design guidelines, and best practices) related to their subject matter expertise.
· Actively attends seminars, training sessions, and factory tours related to their area of expertise.
· Acts as technical support resource on projects requiring their subject matter expertise.
· Actively mentors less experienced technical staff.
· Promotes, uses, and trains others in using the master design tools and standards.
· Works independently to produce technical designs based on criteria from the client and project manager.
· Develops and documents the owner’s project requirements.
· Generates multiple design options that meet the owner’s project requirements for consideration, including pros and cons for each solution.
· Researches and resolves non-standard code questions with the authority having jurisdiction.
· Finds creative solutions to help our architectural partners realize their vision.
· Able to assess and analyze existing systems.
· Has a working knowledge of all design specialties within their discipline.
· Maintains knowledge of current design trends and best practices.
· Provides on-going technical guidance to the design team.
· Delegates technical design work to members of the project design team.
· Ensures that the design meets the quality expectations set by the project manager.
· Ensures coordination between all design disciplines and design partners.
· Ensures that the project team completes the design on schedule.
· Leads the construction administration phase, including attending construction meetings.
· Ensures that the design team completes design work within the hours budgeted by the project manager.
· Identifies and resolves design issues to ensure that we complete projects within the budget.
· Notifies the project manager if design services are requested outside the scope of work.
· Ensures that the QA/QC process is followed and documented.
· Contributes to and follows master design standards.
You Will Need to Have:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or related field from an accredited university or college
At least 6 years of related building systems industry experience
Proficient in Revit and/or AutoCAD
Proficient in design software tools
Microsoft Office Suite of products experience

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification
