NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center, a state-of-the-art multicultural, community-based clinic is seeking a medical assistant to join their team. The medical assistant will work with psychiatric providers, the psychiatric nurse, and client populations to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of quality psychiatric services. This critical role ensures outpatient psychiatric appointments are facilitated in a timely manner and providers have all necessary information needed to engage their work effectively.
Location and hours:
This position is on-site at the NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center at 2220 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55411. Work hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
In this position, you will:
Direct patients to the correct room for appointments, obtain patient vitals, and ensure medication consent forms are completed appropriately.
Receive patient phone calls and direct phone calls to the correct department regarding psychiatric patient's questions and concerns.
Schedule and complete appointment reminder phone calls as needed.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Diploma or associate degree from an accredited Medical Assistant program that includes a clinical externship.
Current certification or eligibility for certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
Nice to have:
Ability to communicate fluently in Spanish or Hmong, in addition to English, both verbally and in writing.
Experience:
Working in a community health setting and/or working with diverse populations.
Using Epic or a similar Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to schedule and register clients and document client data/care.
In records management (e.g., filing charts and gathering, scanning, and abstracting chart materials).
Ability to:
Work effectively and communicate with individuals from a variety of cultural and lifestyle backgrounds in a respectful and non-judgmental manner.
Make sound, independent judgment.
Work both independently and collaboratively as an effective team member.
Read and apply policies and procedures.
Excellent customer service skills.
Candidates with fluency in another language in addition to English are encouraged to apply. Bilingual candidates who pass a language assessment may qualify for additional bilingual pay and duties.
