Hennepin County's Office of Multi-Cultural Services is seeking a multicultural and multilingual Office Specialist III with preferred bilingual skills in one of the following languages Spanish, Somali, Oromo, or Amharic to join their team. This position will serve as a support staff lead worker for the reception desk staff.
In this position, you will:
Greet and assist walk-in clients who have limited English proficiency.
Answer and navigate client’s questions/concerns.
Enter client’s information into appropriate databases including Q-Flow, Broader Needs Assessment (BNA), etc.
Serve as a contact person to communicate with Outreach Liaisons, Interpreters, Supervisors and other affiliated with the office.
Answer phone and respond to voicemails.
Train new staff, volunteers, interns, etc., on front desk duties.
Assist clients with paperwork and questions.
Order supplies when needed.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Two years or more of office clerical experience.
Two years or more of related post-high school education.
18 months or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training program.
One year or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Human Services Pathway Training Program.

Experience:
Using databases and computerized systems to perform data entry where accuracy is essential.
Working with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams & Word).
Utilizing a computer for document management such as uploads and downloads.
Working with a diverse customer base.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to:
Work effectively with others and provide good customer service.
Communicate specialized oral information in English.
Serve and support customers using various communication methods, while giving clear and concise information and/or direction.
Be organized and have good time management skills.
