Join us as a Public Safety Records Clerk where your main responsibilities will be completing interviews, taking booking photos, and performing system inquiries. Our Public Safety Facility's Central Records Unit operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week, and the work is fast paced. Location and hours:
This position is located at the Public Safety Facility in downtown Minneapolis at 401 South 4th Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55415. Central Records is located in a secured facility that operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Shifts may start at 6:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., or 10:30 p.m., and include weekends and holidays. Shift and weekend differential is paid for qualifying hours. You must be able to work all shifts and days of the week; candidates indicating limited availability will not be considered.

In this position, you will:
· Initiate and maintain master booking records and warrant files.
· Complete inmate interview, booking photo, fingerprint identification, and other system queries.
· Process warrants for initial entry and verification, accept bail/bond, set court dates, and document actions.
· Utilize Minnesota Justice Information Services (MNJIS) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) to perform computer inquiries.
· Provide fingerprinting services to the public.
· Respond to requests for information from the public and other criminal justice agencies in accordance with Minnesota Data Practices requirements.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Two or more years of office clerical experience.
o 18 months or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training program.
o Education may be substituted for experience on a month for month (3 semester credits equals 1 month) basis.
· The ability to obtain a State of Minnesota Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) certification within 12 months.
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o Providing face-to-face or over the phone customer service to diverse clients.
o Providing customer/client service navigating multiple computer applications simultaneously.
o Performing data entry from paper documents and forms into a computer system.
o Using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Access), Internet Explorer, Outlook, and/or comparable programs.
o Handling multiple complex and simultaneous tasks while recognizing priorities and meeting deadlines.
· Ability to:
o Respect and maintain the confidentiality of records and private data.
o Handle requests and/or complaints from inmates and the public in a confidential manner.
o Establish and maintain rapport with staff and the public.
o Work collaboratively as part of a team.
o Work with an increasingly diverse population.
· The ability and willingness to work with residents who are hostile and difficult at times.
