The Behavioral Health Forensic Team and area of Health and Human Services is seeking a Social Work Unit Supervisor to join the Adult Case Management Leadership Team. Behavioral Health is an innovative service area continuously seeking ways to improve access to mental health and substance use disorder services for Hennepin County residents.
This position will supervise an interdisciplinary team that provides Adults (18+) Targeted Case Management services. The Forensic Team serves Hennepin County residents with complex needs and who are court ordered. The team monitors the hospitalization progress of recently admitted residents and offers intensive case management services to residents leaving the hospital in order to assist with successful transitions to the community and reduce hospitalization.
In this position, you will:
Supervise a staff of eleven Senior Psychiatric Social Workers, each managing a caseload of approximately 25 persons committed as mentally ill and dangerous.
Establish and maintain standards for customer service and quality work through hiring, coaching, training, and evaluating performance of staff.
Maintain records regarding the placements of clients in the community and at Minnesota Security Hospital in St. Peter.
Utilize county databases, quality assurance tools, and other spreadsheets to maintain quality services within the unit.
Monitor the performance of social workers for adherence to all administrative requirements of case management.
Provide individual and group supervision to clinical social workers.
Lead weekly case consultation with the unit and county attorneys.
Maintain working relationship with the Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Minnesota Security Hospital.
Participate in agency training and management meetings.
Promote and maintain a work environment where all customers are treated respectfully.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Six or more years of experience as a Senior/Psychiatric/Child Protection Social Worker in Hennepin County.
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or human services, and 27 or more quarter credits of graduate work in areas such as social work methods, human growth and behavior, and/or principles of social welfare, and four or more years of supervised experience as a social worker.
Master's degree or higher in social work or closely related field (or licensed as a graduate social worker by the Minnesota Board of Social Work) and three or more years of experience as a social worker.
A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.
Access to reliable transportation, and the ability and willingness to travel primarily within the metro area to possibly transport and/or meet with persons in their residential or community settings.

Qualification as a Mental Health Professional as defined by the state of Minnesota.
Dually licensed as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC), or any of the following: Current Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LSGW), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC), Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and working towards becoming clinically licensed as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
