Hennepin County is seeking a Social Work Unit Supervisor for the Child Protection 24-hour Response Area. This remote position will be assigned to work overnights from 7 p.m. - 7 a.m. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, and will have four weekly flex hours that will be reserved for weekly team meetings, scheduled consults with the area program manager and supervisor. This position will facilitate the workflow of the 24-hour Response Area call center and will be responsible for providing clinical supervision that includes making decisions regarding the safety of children, quality oversight, and support of child protection social workers as they make screening decisions regarding reports of alleged child maltreatment. This position will assist staff on the Rapid Response Team (RRT) in assigning reports for immediate response related to imminent child safety concerns and providing consult to RRT staff in the field until the case moves to a traditional investigation unit. Units are comprised of both intake and RRT child protection social workers.
Effective January 1, 2023, there will be a salary increase of 2.5% to the minimum and maximum of the range.
Location and hours:
This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site an average of 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours will be overnights from 7 p.m. - 7 a.m. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, and will have four weekly flex hours that will be reserved for weekly team meetings, scheduled consults with the area program manager and supervisor. While this position is designated as remote, based on current requirements hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

In this position, you will:
Provide leadership and direct supervision to child protection social workers who are responsible for assessing and investigating reports of child maltreatment, which includes the reviewing, assigning, and closing of cases while monitoring workloads, and evaluating employee performance.
Review reports of alleged child maltreatment and make a determination on whether the information contained in the report would pose an imminent risk of harm to the child that would require a Rapid Response.
Approve case outcomes and whether the imminent risk of harm exists, maltreatment determinations, and appropriate referrals for service.
Work with staff to improve processes, results, and use data to manage work and decision making.
Work collaboratively across the organization and with community partners to reduce disparities.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Six or more years of experience as a Senior/Psychiatric/Child Protection Social Worker in Hennepin County.
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or human services, and 27 or more quarter credits of graduate work in areas such as social work methods, human growth and behavior, and/or principles of social welfare, and four or more years of supervised experience as a social worker.
Master's degree or higher in social work or closely related field (or licensed as a graduate social worker by the Minnesota Board of Social Work) and three or more years of experience as a social worker.

Working in a supervisory and/or leadership role overseeing responsibilities and delegating tasks to team members.
Working with child protection services.
Working in a call center and/or crisis response center.
Managing workflow, assigning tasks, tracking data, and creating systems to improve workflow.
