The Prevention Service Area of Health and Human Services seeks several Senior Social Workers for the Parent Support Outreach (PSOP) team. PSOP workers provide voluntary child welfare services to families who have risk factors of child abuse and neglect.
Location and hours:
These positions are hybrid and will be performed both on-site at various locations throughout Hennepin County and remote as job duties require. PSOP workers are required to meet face-to-face with participating families at least once a month both in the community and in their homes. Work hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional evenings or weekends to accommodate participants' scheduling needs. While these positions are designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.
In these positions you will:
Engage with participants in voluntary services and provide strengths-based case management.
Complete referrals to community agencies to address long-term needs.
Communicate with internal and external stakeholders via phone, email, and in-person in accordance with the case management role.
Complete documentation in accordance with program standards.
Conduct in-person visits in participant homes and various other community locations.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Master's degree or higher in social work or closely related field with course work emphasis in areas such as social work methods, human growth and behavior, and principles or social welfare.
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or human services, and at least 18 semester (27 quarter) credits of graduate work in the above areas, and three years or more of full-time supervised experience as a social worker.
Licensure as a Graduate Social Worker by the Minnesota Board of Social Work.
A valid driver's license, the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver permit, and daily access to reliable transportation sufficient to transport clients (including children) and to travel throughout Hennepin County.
Nice to have:
One or more years of experience providing social services to children as a supervised social worker in a public or private social services agency.
Case management experience working with at-risk families.
Experience with social service information system (SSIS) documentation and the ability to engage residents in voluntary child welfare services.
Knowledge of community resources and supports.
Knowledge of social work practice and ethics, including early intervention and prevention work.
The ability to understand issues related to equity and to demonstrate a commitment to promote diversity and inclusion.
