Hennepin County’s Human Services Public Health (HSPH) department in the Well Being area is seeking a TeenHOPE/Pathways Internship Coordinator. As the TeenHOPE/Pathways Internship Coordinator, you will coordinate, develop, and implement internship and pre-placement programs for young parents and justice-involved youth in healthcare and other high-growth, living wage industries.
TeenHOPE/Pathways program serves pregnant and parenting Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) young parents and/or justice involved youth aged 17-24. The Transition Age Youth program strives for all young people in Hennepin County to transition well into adulthood. Through this commitment, we can maximize prevention efforts that reduce racial disparities that impact generations of Hennepin County residents.
Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed on-site at the Pathways Re-Engagement site at Minneapolis College at 1501 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55403 at least three days per week to work with Pathways participants and remotely as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, with flexible hours between 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. No weekend, overnight or holiday shifts are required. This position may require some occasional travel to multiple Hennepin County sites. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.
In this position, you will:
Develop both career exploration and internship-to-hire internship sites within Hennepin County, in health care and other high-growth, living-wage industries.
Develop job shadowing and informational interviewing sites within the community to help potential interns explore areas of interest.
Coordinate onboarding activities with site supervisor and human resources specialists to ensure smooth placement of interns.
Provide ongoing support to site supervisors and interns in the form of daily and weekly check-in as a means of troubleshooting problems and celebrating successes.
Conduct mid-term and final performance evaluations with both interns and site supervisors.
Coordinate support services for interns in collaboration with their case managers/probation officers to meet basic needs and address barriers to work.
Assist with administrative tasks such as team meetings and trainings.
Collect data related to internship recruitment, placement, and skill attainment.
Work with program manager to identify possible funding sources for paid internships and complete quarterly and year-end reports to funders.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Four or more years of experience in general administrative work relating to the support of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position.
Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration, public health, public administration, communications, or another field appropriate to the position.
