Description
Help shape the county’s digital transformation. The Office of Digital Experience is seeking two User Experience (UX) Specialists to join the UX Team. These roles will help the UX team meet rapidly growing UX needs and allow the team to expand and mature its research practice. The person in these positions must strongly advocate for positive UX, feel comfortable working on an Agile/Lean team, and serve as a collaborative partner with UX team members, communicators, and other staff across the county to meet end users’ needs. Effective January 1, 2023, there will be a general salary adjustment of 2.5% to the minimum and maximum of the range. Location and hours: These positions are hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the Government Center, 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55487, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will typically be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with some flexibility in start and end times. While these positions are designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin. New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment. About these position types: These are limited duration (temporary), full-time, benefit earning positions expected to last up to two years with the possibility of extension. These positions are internally classified as an Information Technology (IT) Business Analyst II. Click here to view the job classification specification. At this time, employees may be eligible to receive an additional cash merit of up to $2,266.06 that can be earned annually based on performance. In these positions, you will:
· Lead UX research activities that help the county create usable and accessible digital experiences for residents.
· Use qualitative and quantitative research methods to gather data about user behavior and needs.
· Analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative data to create meaningful and actionable insights.
· Share your knowledge and skills to build UX capacity throughout the county.
· Collaborate on other UX work efforts that have a range of complexity.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Four years or more of information technology experience.
o Two-year college/vocational technical degree in a technology field and two years or more of information technology experience.
o An approved information technology certificate and two years or more of information technology experience.
o Completion of five college/vocational technical technology courses and two years or more of information technology experience.
o Completion of an approved IT Hennepin County internship and two years or more of information technology experience.
o Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, management information systems (MIS), or field related to the business and one year or more of professional IT experience.
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o Planning and conducting user research using a combination of methods such as user interviews, usability tests, and card sorts.
o Developing/interpreting UX deliverables. Examples of UX deliverables are mockups, sitemaps, journey-maps, etc.
o Facilitating effective, inclusive, and actionable conversations.
o Building and sustaining effective relationships with stakeholders.
o Synthesizing and clearly communicating insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
o Advocating for accessible, usable, and inclusive user experiences.
· Knowledge of:
o User experience principles and UX design best practices.
o Digital accessibility standards.
o Interpretation of analytics and performance measures.
· Ability to:
o Develop and maintain effective relationships with colleagues across-the organization.
o Clearly communicate with technical and non-technical colleagues.
o Advocate for consistently accessible, usable, inclusive, secure, and positive digital experiences.
o Participate on an Agile team.
