Description
Hennepin County Library is looking for Computer Tutor Volunteers at a few of our libraries to assist patrons with computer basics. This opportunity will help library patrons improve their basic computer skills and job search skills through one-to-one assistance. Locations in need:
· Augsburg Park Library located at 7100 Nicollet Ave. Richfield, MN 55423. Shifts available weekday afternoons between 1pm - 6pm.
· Franklin Library located at 1314 E. Franklin Ave. Minneapolis, MN 55404. Shifts available Monday – Thursday afternoons 1:00pm - 3:00pm or 2:00pm - 4:00pm.
· Hopkins Library located at 22 11th Ave. N. Hopkins, MN 55343. Flexible shifts available on Saturdays.
· Minneapolis Central Library Computer Tutor Walk in Lab located at 300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55401. Computer lab is located on the first floor in the Best Buy Learning Lab:
o HOURS for NOVEMBER 2023
o Mondays 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
o Tuesdays 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (shifts fulfilled on Tues.)
o Wednesdays 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
o Thursdays 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
· Ridgedale Library Tech Help Desk located at 12601 Ridgedale Dr. Minnetonka, MN 55305.
o Tech Help Desk Volunteer: Assists with setting up and accessing a variety of features on smartphones, laptops, accessing digital library resources, and email accounts. A volunteer in this role would feel comfortable explaining those technologies to attendees. Our current program hours are Tuesdays from 3pm – 5 p.m.
· Webber Park Library located at 4440 Humboldt Ave. N. Minneapolis, MN 55412.
o Shifts available at Webber Park on Wednesday or Friday mornings from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

· Assist patrons with logging in, typing, and using a mouse to navigate the computer.
· Help patrons navigate the internet (connecting to Wi-Fi, sign up for online accounts, login to email account, and changing passwords).
· Support patrons with job search assistance: resumes, searching the internet for jobs, and job applications.
· Proficiency in (or a willingness to learn) Microsoft Word and Excel.
Need to Have:
· The ability to communicate with a wide range of people and be able to break down technology and job-related topics in an accessible way.
Nice to Have:
· The ability to speak another language in addition to English.
