Description
Are you a skilled communicator with a passion for online internal engagement and public service? Hennepin County is seeking a Principal Web Communications Specialist to join the Communications department.
This person will play an important role with leading and implementing web content strategy through partnerships with department communicators and program areas. Additionally, this person will leverage web analytics to identify trends and provide data-driven recommendations and edit content to align with web standards.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed on-site at the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487 and remote as job duties require. Work hours will typically be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with occasional evenings and/or weekends. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

In this position, you will:
· Write, edit and maintain user-centered digital content that adheres to Hennepin County’s website standards for quality, plain language, accessibility and customer service. Help evolve these same standards through active continuous improvement and adoption efforts.
· Lead and implement content strategy through partnerships with department communicators and the program areas they represent to connect Hennepin County residents to the services and information they need and benefit from.
· Gather, interpret, and leverage Google Analytics to identify trends and provide data-driven website communication strategy and recommendations.
· Work as a critical website communication expert within Hennepin County’s enterprise content management system (Sitecore) to lead content strategy, create and update content to web standards, support Search Engine Optimization, educate and assist Communications colleagues on website best practices.
· Train and assist users on managing and publishing web content.
· Apply HTML knowledge and experience to align with brand guidelines and proper use of web content standards.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Seven years or more of related professional experience
o Two years of college or more and five years or more of related professional experience
o Bachelor's degree or higher in journalism, English, communications, mass communications, marketing, media studies, graphic design, photojournalist, telecommunications, visual communications, public administration or a closely-related field and three years or more of related professional experience
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o Leading web content strategy and priority web communication projects for a large organization.
o Providing top-tier relationship and service support to program area directors and communication leaders.
o Managing, optimizing, and editing content using a robust content management system such as Sitecore or similar.
o Writing and editing digitally focused content in plain language, within an organizational brand.
o Interpreting and leveraging web analytics to develop data-driven content and communication recommendations.
o Implementing best practices for User Experience (UX), information architecture, and accessibility.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
