Description
The IT department is seeking a Workforce Development Specialist to join their team. In this position, you will be primarily responsible for assessing the skills, training, and development needs of the IT department workforce, and identifying upskilling programs and learning paths that will prepare employees for relevant career tracks and future technology skills. This work will be integrated across all levels of the department and will have the opportunity to make a difference with our employees’ current work experience, and the future of the department. This role will also assess the success of development plans, help employees make the most of learning opportunities, and work cross-functionally with subject matter experts and IT managers to define key learning areas and deliver opportunities related to the ever-changing technology landscape. Remote workers may be required to come on-site 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with flexibility. Based on business needs of this position, hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota.New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.About the position type:This is a full-time, benefit earning position.This position is internally classified as an Administrative Assistant, Senior.Click here to view the job classification specification. In this position, you will:
· Conduct needs assessments and identify performance gaps to determine appropriate learning experiences.
· Communicate with senior leaders to identify training needs and development plans for teams and individuals.
· Identify and manage resources and online courses to support identified needs.
· Lead the day-to-day operations and collaborate with the team to implement project deliverables.
· Assess effectiveness and determine the impact of training on employee skills and KPIs.
· Manage, evaluate, and maintain vendor training platforms.
· Partner with vendors to drive and build the utilization of program data to support future learning decisions.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Eight or more years of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position.
o Bachelor's degree or higher in public administration, business administration, or other field appropriate to the position and four or more years of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position.
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o In organizational change management.
o In program management.
o Working autonomously using project management practices, successfully meeting deadlines while managing stakeholders at all levels.
· Knowledge of Microsoft 365.
· Ability to:
o Keep abreast of emerging technology, adult learning theory, and instructional design.
o Understand county's current technology policies and model practices.
