Perform other work as assigned. Qualification and Skill Requirements: Prior Experience: 1-2 years of prior relevant experience in a manufacturing environment required. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Knowledge Requirements: To be effective, this position requires specific knowledge of material handling processes and material handling equipment. Person needs to understand or be capable of learning receiving, storing, picking, moving, shipping and distribution processes. Position also requires an understanding of or the capability of learning auditing practices as it applies to cycle counting of materials. Basic math skills including counting, addition, subtraction, division and multiplication are required. Licenses and Certifications: Forklift license is required and operators must be able to maintain certification. Certifications or required class attendance: None Work Requirement: This position may require some work hours beyond the normal workday based on the demands of the business cycle, customer volume of business, and specific sales efforts underway. It has a moderate to high demand for physical activity. Physical Requirements: This position requires: Continuous (6 or more hours per day) bending, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, reaching, lifting and grasping. Continuous (6 or more hours per day) standing and walking. Continuous (6 or more hours per day) talking, teaching, and repetitive motion, hand/wrist movement. Sensory requirements: Good eyesight, normal hearing, and fluent in the English language. Working Conditions: Indoors, generally. Will be exposed to various fragrances which at times may be at elevated levels. Moving and lifting objects, sometimes 50 lbs. frequently. Able to utilize stairways. Able to respond and adapt to changes in the work environment. Ability to work in a high paced work environment. Capable of operating various motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment. Computer literate with basic PC platform and understands basic office software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of MRP / ERP and WMS systems a plus. Work Schedule: This position usually works for 8 hours during a shift. However, hours of work are flexible and will fluctuate based on the needs of the business and the customers. The job may require a maximum of 5-20 hours of work beyond the normal work-week schedule depending on work demands. The work hours can vary depending on customer requirements and staffing. Technical Competencies: Uses processes and technology to improve the quality and efficiency of service or production; follows processes well. Can maintain and grow technical knowledge and expertise. Can be accurate, precise and pay attention to detail. Has a “working” knowledge of personal computer operation. Proficient at Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Office 2000 or higher. Can read and write in English at a high school level. Understands and can do basic math and algebra to create a spreadsheet report or produce a query. Job Responsibilities and Duties: The Lean Purchasing Manager will be successful by fulfilling the following job responsibilities and duties and core competencies. (Percentages = priority and approximate time focus) 1. Implement Strategic Sourcing by establishing a network of partner suppliers who align with the Apex Purpose & Values, and support the Apex Vision while leading to least total cost and minimized order to delivery cycle turn. Implement and maintain e-procurement creating seamless interactions between Apex and its suppliers to minimize purchasing lead times, reduce supply cycle times and time spent by procurement to process day to day operating and pricing. Implement a Supplier Relationship Management process to quantify and select suppliers, manage procurement risk, monitor supplier performance and drive collaboration to achieve outstanding results. Implement and create discipline around Contract Management strategies with suppliers and contract manufacturing parties. Develop a “results orientation” with suppliers and APEX team with a focus on performance improvement. Create and implement criteria for supplier evaluation, audits and scorecards. Develop and implement a pull system of inventory and material management that minimizes lead time, cycle time, waste, excess and obsolesce. Create and implement information transparency in the supply chain so that all stakeholders are able to identify location of materials, components and finished goods. Develop and communicate the integration of all process throughout the supply chain to ensure everyone understands how their decisions effect supply chain and procurement outcomes. Define, implement and monitor cost savings ideas with key customers for ongoing cost savings. 2. Management Competencies: Develop & maintain an organization of people who are experts at what they do & who align with the Apex Lean Vision, Core Purpose and Core Values. The pay is based on experience, but starting rate is $22.00/hour and we are offering $5,000-$7500 starting retention bonus. This position does require manufacturing experience.
