DriSteem Corporation, a division of Research Products Corporation designs and manufactures humidification systems to meet the unique requirements of health care, industrial, process-critical, commercial and residential applications worldwide. We are currently seeking a Quality Manager to join our team in Eden Prairie, MN. This position will reside with the Operations team and report to the Director of Operations.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Manager will manage quality department personnel, quality functions, and the ISO Quality Management System. Responsible for the development and deployment of a quality system and compliance strategy, (including document control) that is harmonized to DRI-STEEM business objectives. The primary responsibilities include working on strategies to sustain and enhance our quality systems. This position leads the translation of strategies into measurable goals and objectives and guides the implementation of those initiatives while working in a hands on environment. The main purpose of this role is to ensure compliance of our quality systems and to continually improving the QMS and our systems, products, and processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

  • Promote continual compliance with all elements of the DRI-STEEM quality system and continuous improvement in all aspects of the company.

  • Ensure that processes required for the quality management systems are established, implemented, and maintained.

  • Manage the corrective action system to provide for timely corrective action for both internal and customer issues.

  • Responsible to maintain and further develop a quality assurance system that promotes customer satisfaction and one that positively impacts the financial performance of the organization.

  • Report performance of the QMS, including any needs for improvement, to the Sr. Leadership team.

  • Ensure employees receive appropriate Quality Awareness Training. Provides training instruction to all quality department personnel, as well as operations personnel, in support of the quality management system, as required.

  • Assure that the company is in compliance with ISO quality system requirements through leading internal quality audits and implementation of identified corrective actions.

  • Champion continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives.

  • Ensure the promotion of awareness of regulatory and customer requirements throughout the organization.

  • Coordinate all activities relative to obtaining desired certifications for the DRI-STEEM organization

  • Lead/participate in the supplier leadership efforts in conjunction with the supply chain/materials team, focused on key supplier development based on key and historical metrics such as quality and on-time delivery.

  • Monitor supplier quality assurance activities that include source selection, supplier assessments, supplier evaluations, and develop partnerships.

  • Responsible for ensuring safety in the department, promoting safe work practices, conducting investigations of accidents/incidents occurring in the department and immediately reporting any unsafe acts, conditions, or accidents observed throughout the company.

  • Investigate complaints and develop internal mitigation techniques to prevent recurrence. Track, trend, and communicate to stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain the quality plan, works with team leaders and management staff to implement efficient quality tools and processes that will drive excellence and improve customer satisfaction. Uses continual improvement techniques such as PDCA, pareto charts, control charts, check sheets, affinity diagrams, Cause & Effect diagrams, etc. LEAN methods including 5-S & visual management, Kaizen events, Cellular mfg and flow, Kan Ban, etc.

  • Represent the quality management system on product design and development projects; evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.

  • Approve Engineering Change Requests and assures quality related responsibilities are complete

  • Incorporate risk-based thinking & risk management tools into applicable procedures throughout the QMS.

  • Perform related work as apparent or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of progressive management experience in a quality role in a manufacturing environment.

  • BS degree in Industrial or Quality Engineering or equivalent.

  • Experience in leadership principles, quality and problem solving tools and project management.

  • Knowledge and experience in ISO 9001 environment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both orally and in writing.

  • Experience in regulatory and agency requirements a plus (UL, CSA, CE, Gas Directive).

  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

  • Experience with LEAN.

  • Strong team builder.

  • Ability to work independently, be a self-starter and manage multiple and varied projects.
