Quality Assurance Specialist

DriSteem currently has an opening for an energetic, dynamic Quality Assurance Specialist reporting into the Quality Manager. We are looking for someone who can see opportunities and wants to make a difference as part of a growing team.
Position Summary:
To measure, monitor, analyze and continually improve processes to ensure compliance with company quality standards and customer requirements.
This position will reside in the Quality department, functions, duties and responsibilities include:
Helps to design and implement testing procedures
Work with suppliers to communicate and solve quality related issues
Assists in formulation of quality policies and procedures
Develops and conducts training on quality concepts and procedures
Process review and analysis of effectiveness of current processes. Collects and maintains product test data to monitor and measure quality performance for current manufacturing products and processes
Interfaces with engineering, manufacturing and operations functions within the organization on quality related items
Implementation and maintenance of SPC where appropriate
Active member of internal quality system audit team
Participate and/or lead Kaizen team events in an effort to eliminate waste and drive continuous improvement
Maintains measurement & test equipment. Responsible for the calibration system, testing, calibration work instructions, quality records and traceability to specific standards
Performs special inspections, first article approvals on incoming material as required
Performs final product audits on outgoing product as necessary
Control of non-conforming material
Promotes and complies with all elements of the DRI-STEEM quality system and actively promotes continuous improvement in all aspects of business operations. Has responsibility and authority to:
Respond to assigned Non-Conformances / Findings and Corrective Action requests with thoroughness and per committed schedules.
Authority and responsibility for corrective and preventive action processes.
Perform internal quality audits to ISO9000:2015 standard.
Make business decisions consistent with the basic quality system philosophy and business priorities, even when in conflict with other organizational objectives.
Complies with any/all company safety and health rules and policies and promotes safe work practices. Report any safety concerns to a supervisor/manager.
Performs related work as apparent or assigned
To be considered for this position, candidates will meet the following qualifications:
Post-secondary education in related field.
Experience within an ISO 9000 business environment.
Creative problem solving using appropriate quality tools and techniques.
Solid team leader skills.
Training and experience using improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing. Strong analytical and in-depth problem solving skills.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficient in MS Word and Excel. CAD experience a plus.
LEAN certification a plus
ASQ Certification (i.e. CQT or CQE) a plus.
Blue print reading and interpretation required.
