Accounting Manager Location: Bloomington, MN Full-time: 40 hours/week

In collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounting Manager will take a leadership role in designing, implementing and maintaining accounting systems that will enable Bethany International to effectively train and mobilize missionaries worldwide to “Take the Church to Where it is Not”. The Accounting Manager will delight God’s heart and extend His Kingdom by ensuring the vison, mission, and core values of Bethany International are fulfilled.

Key responsibilities include:  Managing the month-end close and financial reporting process  Training student workers to develop financial/accounting skills to the point of becoming competent in core transaction processing and critical thinking relative to organizational finances  Financial report writing in accounting software  Journal entries  General ledger account analysis  Bank reconciliations  Analyzing financial results and communicating important insights to operating ministry departments  Student financial records - assist as needed with recording student financial transactions in student database and recording transactions through to the general ledger.  Assist CFO with financial forecasting  Assist CFO with annual budget  Assist CFO in annual audit  Assist CFO in financial statement preparation  Assist CFO in monitoring cash balances  Assist CFO with other duties as necessary

Successful candidates will have:

 Financial Aptitude: Demonstrated aptitude for creating and managing accounting processes; Demonstrated aptitude for analyzing financial data and gaining insight from such data  Supervisory Skills: Demonstrated ability to train, manage and develop a work force of college students.  Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage projects and work well with other team members.  Communication Skills: Demonstrated skills to communicate effectively with team members.  Problem Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to solve problems.  Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting completed (or in progress); comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.  Experience: Work experience in small accounting office preferred. Work and/or volunteer experience with a nonprofit extremely helpful.  Competencies/Skills:

Must be proficient in Excel, experience with accounting software preferred.

Must be competent in mathematic analysis of financial transactions.

Must be proficient in, or able to quickly learn, the use of nonprofit accounting software.

Must be able to write business letters, emails and other communications in a professional fashion.  Physical abilities required to perform the job: Ability to climb stairs.

The ideal candidate will desire to pursue long-term growth as an accountant and will desire to grow in knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles applicable to nonprofit organizations.

Spiritual Responsibilities:

 Must demonstrate the life of Jesus follower, consistent with Bethany International’s core values.  Participation in prayer meetings and weekly chapel services is expected.  Expected to be a role model of the Christian faith for students of Bethany Global University.

Work Hours:

 8 hour work-day  8:00am-5:00pm  Monday through Friday  Occasional evenings and weekends may be required for special events
