Business Development Manager @ NAPA Import Group

The Role:

Do you thrive off of building relationships with customers and helping them understand the features, benefits and value of a product line where you ultimately close deals? If this sounds like you, our Import Parts Sales Team would love to hear from you! Specifically, we are seeking a “make it happen”, top sales achiever to market an awesome line of Import Parts for a power house and already well established brand, NAPA!

As a Business Development Manager with our Import Parts Division, you will be primarily responsible for promoting and growing our Import Parts product line with NAPA Store Owners. You would be great in this role if you have at least 3 to 5 years in a sales background and come from the auto parts/aftermarket world, but we are open to having someone from another industry with a very strong outside sales background. This is the right opportunity for you if you:

  • Know how to get others so excited about a product that they can’t help but buy from you. This is the energy and enthusiasm we need from someone. You need to believe and understand our import products so that you can close the deal

  • Have a passion for "the hunt", winning customers, and closing the deal

  • Truly love and understand basic selling concepts along with the enjoyment that comes with building and sustaining customer relationships

  • Enjoy promoting import parts to our independent store owners so that they will want to carry these products in their stores

  • Increase purchases of new inventory and upgrades from our store owners, and continually train and stock stores with new products

  • Wake up driven to succeed! Obstacles don’t scare you, they drive you to overcome and keep pushing forward

  • Love the challenge of developing business relationships and taking care of customers that buy from you, even after the sale

  • Love to travel and don’t mind being a road warrior at times. In addition to daily store visits, you will need to travel overnight as this territory encompasses Minnesota, North and South Dakota areas.

A Day in the life:

  • Promote the entire line of NAPA import products to company owned and independent stores, and wholesale customers

  • Drive new store stock and upgrade sales and provide guidance and inventory expertise on our import product line.

  • Visit with multiple store and distribution centers along with meeting NAPA store owners and their team, and NAPA Sales teams, to perform energetic and knowledgeable educational seminars, clinics and presentations on NAPA import product lines and services. Remember, the end goal is to get others educated and excited about NAPA import products with the end result of closing the deal.

  • Provide leadership and expertise during inventory installations and reorganizations of stores and headquarters’ new initiatives, and serve as a liaison between internal Sales teams and our Import division.

  • Participate in dealer shows and independent NAPA store owners/Company owned meetings.

  • Maintain customer satisfaction and provide strong customer service including solving customer problems, complaints and questions in person or by phone when it comes to questions about import parts.

What you’ll need:

  • 3-5 years of previous selling experience. This is pretty high on our list of qualifications. You will also have the ability to perform in a quota-driven environment that is highly customer focused.

  • You understand the sales cycle and can demonstrate basic selling skills such as preparing for the sales call, managing the customer meeting, handling customer resistance, closing the sale and account maintenance.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills. You will conduct presentations and meet with tons of NAPA current and potential customers so we need you to be strong in this area. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel.

  • Have a very strong personal drive. You know that sales is not always easy so you keep pushing even with set-backs.

  • We need you to be able to solve issues/problems on the spot and have outstanding follow- up with our customers. It would be great if you have ideas for us and know how to bring innovative solutions to problems and challenges. We encourage and are open to that from our employees!

And if you have this, even better:

  • Strong background in Automotive Industry: Parts/Aftermarket/Heavy Duty/Collision/Dealership world/etc.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

  • Savvy to use technology to manage your day and for presentations (Microsoft Office Suite). You don’t have to be perfect at it, but we need you to have strong basic skills to create power point presentations.
