Senior Project Engineer @ DriSteem

We are currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our team in Eden Prairie, MN. This position will reside with the Engineering team and report to the New Product Development Manager.

Position Summary:

Performs project leadership, management and engineering activities in the design and development of DriSteem products and components. Ensures conformance to project specifications, customer needs, and performance of new products, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Essential Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:

Manages technical projects and cross-functional teams on product development projects or technical activities. Reviews customer specifications and requirements, and develops designs to best support them, including cost and performance as key design variables.

Leads and supports large/major projects of medium to high complexity and scope from written specifications to production in accordance with the DriSteem project management process. Includes:

  • Management of cross-functional design teams

  • Development and management of the project team

  • Completion of projects within budget and on time

  • Lead design teams in preparation of all required documentation including:

  • Project work statements/charters

  • Project plans and schedules

  • Authorizations to Develop

  • New Product Authorization documents

  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems

  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services

  • Presentations to management and other project/program stakeholders

  • Coordination and management to complete required stage gate and other project reviews.

Provides expert application knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as HVAC equipment, machines, controls, instruments, etc.

Provides leadership to organization through the application of extensive/broad knowledge in the field of specialization.

Provides multiple product/component consultations as required to ensure product safety, quality, performance or other business needs.

Provides expert product/field knowledge on an as-needed basis to manufacturing, product management, sales, or other departments to resolve inquiries and problems to ensure immediate customer needs are met.

Aides and supports other engineers and DriSteem personnel in the development of projects and products.

Serves as an expert within a technical area and educates others on technical issues.

Improves and updates internal documentation including process, technical and product knowledge as required to perform effectively. Documents new information to continuously expand our knowledge base.

Complies with any/all company safety and health rules and policies and promotes safe work practices. Report any safety concerns to a supervisor/manager.

Brings team together, using technical and non-technical skills to help solve complex challenges.

Participate closely in lab work as necessary (auditing, testing, design verification, competitive evaluation, etc.). Use typical laboratory tools and processes to safely build, test, modify and evaluate equipment.

Performs related work as apparent or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate engineering discipline with 6+ years of experience.

  • Ability to handle multiple and varied projects.

  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.

  • Strong organizational and creative problem solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with a wide variety of company personnel and others at all levels.
