Part Time Childcare Attendant - Minnetonka United Methodist Church

Purpose: This position provides for a familiar and trusted caregiver for children from new born to age 5.  It is our goal to reduce children’s fear and separation anxieties, so parents feel comfortable attending church services and programs, and having their children in our care.

 

Accountability: This position reports to the Associate Pastor under the supervision of the Lead Pastor.  The Childcare Attendant receives work direction from the Associate Pastor.

 

Responsibilities/Duties:  The person serving in this position is responsible for providing a safe and nurturing environment in the nursery.  The Minnetonka United Methodist Church Nursery Childcare Guidelines and Safe Church Policy documents define the major requirements for the position.  Other specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. On an annual basis, a commitment of approximately 4 hours per week on Sunday morning and 2 hours on Wednesday evenings, alternating with other childcare staff, and additional hours as scheduled for other times during the week.

  2. On Sunday morning, being present in the nursery ½ hour before the children arrive and remaining until all children are picked up by their designated person.

  3. Providing nursery care for other church programming and special occasions as negotiated with the Associate Pastor.

  4. Keeping the childcare spaces (room and contents) clean, neat, and orderly, including keeping all toys cleaned and sanitized regularly.

  5. Welcoming and providing information to visitors or first-time attendees who are using the childcare rooms as their entry point to MUMC.

 

Qualifications: The Childcare Attendant must be at least 21 years of age, complete the Safe Church training, and pass a background check.

 

Compensation/Benefits:  Compensation is provided at an hourly rate, paid on a semi-monthly basis.  Performance reviews are conducted annually, in consultation with the Associate and Lead Pastors.  Salary adjustments are considered annually.  Annual paid vacation is provided in accordance with the MUMC Personnel Policies for Lay Employees.
