Associate Merchandise Manager: United Hardware Distributing in Plymouth, MN is seeking a full-time Associate Merchandise Manager.
United Hardware Distributing Co. is a full-line wholesale hardware distributor providing products, retail programs and support services to independent retailers. Headquartered in Plymouth, MN, United Hardware services dealers from its 400,000 square foot distribution center in Milbank, SD and delivers to locations in 18 states.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Attend National shows, as needed, to meet with new and existing vendors to review programs and gain new ideas
Involved in line reviews, new product sourcing, product selection, and pricing, under well-defined specifications and standards
Research competition, interview vendors and negotiate pricing
Buy to economic order quantities and select and plan inventory
Develop advertising promotions and proof all promotional circulars
Work with vendors, and the Inventory Management department regarding pricing issues and mis-shipped merchandise
Review aged inventory reports and work with Inventory Management department to dispose of overstocked merchandise
Maintain computer data on-line via Epicor control: ensure correct descriptions, pricing, packs, weights, retails, gross margins, vendor & sku. Inputs corrections on-line in Epicor. Perform on-line maintenance for circulars, etc.
Work with vendors regarding show attendance and the negotiation of show specials, special circular pricing and dating terms
Prepare show order forms
Assist in set-up of show to ensure proper booth set-up and manpower
Work with Inventory Management department on all deals and plans for shows and special promotions
Promote product through bulletins, circulars, shows, end-cap programs, department planograms, and dealer updates. This includes all marketing functions of United Hardware Distributing Co.
Supply product images and factory information to advertising
Involved in dealer meetings throughout the year
Answer dealer phone calls. Research requests for product, vendor numbers, catalogues, and price checks. Resolve dealer and vendor concerns
Continually strive to better existing vendor programs, and promotions assigned to him/her
Work with freight forwarder and import vendors on purchase orders, shipment dates and arrival notices
Create container cube and import analysis reports for departmental import purchases
Create and update an analysis of import purchase orders for the merchandising team
Inform the warehouse and specific buyers of import container information: container number, departure date, arrival dates, etc.
Work with accounting and make sure all necessary documents are received in a timely manner
Interact with other departments as situations arise
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration or equivalent business experience.
Three years' merchandising experience
Knowledge of Company products and services.
Ability to use office equipment such as computer, calculator, copier and fax machine.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines
