Hospitality Coordinator @ Minnetonka United Methodist Church

Purpose: This position is responsible for organizing hospitality events and room set-ups for MUMC.

Responsibilities/Duties: The specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • On annual basis, a commitment of approximately 10-12 hours per week

  • Host Wednesday dinners with assistance from volunteers:

    • Recruit/Invite people to cook meals

    • Assist with set-up for serving

    • Help manage need to replenish food and beverages

    • Recruit/Invite/Hire people to clean-up, including washing, drying and putting away of dishes, pans, etc.

    • Ensure menu and signup sheets are available in a timely manner each month

    • Collect and report to finance moneys from the meals.

    • Coordinate with Mission Team for outreach focus for Soup Suppers in Lent.

  • Coordinate and lead a team for all church events/special occasions & celebrations, including new member classes and coffee hosts:

    • Soup Suppers- Lent

      • Coordinate with outreach teams for set-up, serving and clean-up.

    • All Church Carnival following VBS

      • Plan and purchase food and other supplies

      • Recruit/Invite volunteers to set-up, cook, serve and clean-up

      • Setup food table             

      • Ensure there are ample organic, trash and recycle bins available

      • Clean up after, putting food away

    • All Church Christmas Celebration

      • Co-ordinate with family Ministries Director for overall schedule and publicize with opportunities for others to serve. There are many areas to serve in for this event.

      • Recruit/Invite volunteers to plan, set-up, cook, serve and clean-up

      • Plan menu and purchase food as needed

      • Oversee preparations, set-up, etc.

      • Secure entertainment for the event

      • Oversee clean-up

    • Special Sundays- (Celebrations, pastor’s welcome, goodbyes’, “just because”…)

      • Recruit/Invite people to set-up for and serve the food

      • Plan and purchase food

      • Clean-up after

  • Participate in staff meetings as called by the Lead Pastor

  • Contribute relevant and timely information to the weekly email, bulletin and monthly newsletter

  • Assist other staff members as needed

  • Fulfilling additional duties as assigned

Qualifications: Strong relational skills; ability to organize and lead groups; good oral and written communications; computer and software literate (especially Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint or similar software and Publisher); strong team player.


Accountability: This position reports directly to the Lead Pastor.
