The Production Manager will have a hands-on leadership style over 10+ employees and have a passion for learning, teaching and motivating. This role oversees the planning and scheduling of all projects, many of which are customized. We are seeking someone with experience in yield management to maximize our productivity and drive profits, and with a proven track record of recommending solutions.
Effectively track and coordinate multiple project work orders for all production and specialty projects.
Evaluate project requirements, define scope, and set production schedules/timelines alongside shop foreman to ensure timely delivery of product to customers.
Manage lead times of various shop departments by identifying, monitoring and measuring productivity numbers and employee performance to meet daily/monthly goals.
Implement Lean manufacturing, where appropriate, to control waste and maximize labor.
Proactively take required steps to manage shop productivity, meet customer demands, and maintain company revenue projections.
Maintain manpower efficiency standards with a constant focus on productivity and efficiency improvements.
Develop time studies for ongoing and special one-off projects.
Manage product quality, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions.
Able to inspire others to succeed.
Collaborate with Lead Estimator on custom projects and labor costs.
Accurately maintain spreadsheets and reporting records in company technology.
Establish and maintain relationships with shop suppliers and equipment vendors, as well as collaborate with purchasing on reclaimed material needs.
Receive and track all incoming raw materials through finished inventory products.
Schedule equipment maintenance and repairs.
Coordinate shop safety meetings.
Work with OSHA on all safety items, Right-to-know and all safety related issues.
5+ years’ experience in manufacturing preferred
Strong management/supervisory experience required
Ability to take initiative and a solutions-oriented mindset with prior success of implementing change
History of overseeing a department to greater profitability
Demonstrated project management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment with a variable workload
Excellent written and verbal skills
Experience with Lean Manufacturing mythologies and implementations
Solid knowledge of machinery and mechanically-minded
Intermediate to advanced MS Excel and other technology skills
Bachelor’s Degree preferred; or equivalent combination of experience and training or education preferred.
