Controller/Human Resources Manager

We are looking for a skilled Controller/Human Resources Manager to join our growing team to lead and improve our financial and operational reporting and human resources programs.
The position contributes to the company’s overall strategic and operational success, collaborating directly with the leadership team in overseeing financial forecasting, planning, monitoring and reporting.
Duties of the position include supervising day to day accounting operations, including general ledger, cash flow, A/P, A/R, fixed assets and other responsibilities. While the emphasis of this role is finance, it also includes responsibility for managing a breadth of functions such as accounting, human resources, and information technology and requires an individual who is both strategic and tactical.
Responsibilities
Develop and manage efficient processes for timely month and year end close processes, quarterly statement preparation and reconciliation of asset and liability accounts. Maintain and improve workflow by implementing best practices, recommending cost reductions and developing reporting procedures
Ensure all payments are completed in a timely manner, to include accounts payable and bank deposits
Set and track financial KPIs
Oversee staff within the front office responsible for; accounts payable and receivable, processing credits, debits and commissions, and reception
Monitor cash flow and regularly review the general ledger distribution for any required accounting corrections
Maintain internal control and safeguards for all accounting functions including receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and expenditures
Ensure tax rates used for sales/use tax are current and proper amounts are collected and/or accrued and reported, ensuring compliance with accounting and tax regulation, to include GAAP standards
Coordinate and interface with all external audit activity
Ensure proper payroll processing, vacation/time off, workers compensation, short and long term disability and health insurance and retirement program administration
Implement team member cross training to support successful daily operations
Resolve administrative problems by coordinating preparation of reports, analyzing data and identifying solutions
Negotiate leases for equipment and services, manage office space, equipment and services to provide productive work environment for staff
Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence and encourage others; advocate for sound financial/business decision making, lead by example

The successful candidate will have:
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or related field
5-7 years of progressive financial management with at least 3 of those years in a finance and/or accounting leadership role
Demonstrated competence in financial reporting and internal controls, development of financial and budget planning models, and benchmarking tools
Proficiency with financial database management systems, reporting tools, ERP systems and Microsoft Office suite
Strong written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex data for a variety of audiences
Experience overseeing an organization’s human resources and/or informational technology functions a plus
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and networking skills with a proven track record of building effective relationships across functional areas and with external partners
Record of teamwork, passion, integrity and trustworthiness; demonstrated ability to lead high-performance teams and to prioritize in a fast-paced environment with superb attention to detail
