Role Summary: The Senior Staff Accountant works closely with the Controller and other members of the department to manage financial functions and processes. This position will manage a multitude of accounting activities focusing on accurate, timely and efficient financial reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate will have food manufacturing company experience.
Essential Competencies: Accounting Manages the periodic financial close process within stated deadlines, working collaboratively with other finance team members and business owners.
Prepares accurate and timely corporate level financial statements
Maintains and prepares complex, flexible, robust financial packages and models using appropriate technology to regularly report the periodic financial position of the corporate business units against budget and prior year, as well as corporate level balance sheet and profit and loss statements.
Performs variance analysis and prepares or reviews assigned account reconciliations and journal entries for accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
Adheres to and supports internal control procedures
Responsible for mandated governmental financial reporting and surveys.
Provides support to other functional business owners as needed.
Reporting Technology Maintains assigned corporate business intelligence software to efficiently and accurately and flexibly provide financial information to internal and external customers.
Provides ad hoc reporting as required.
Provides ERP system administration back up as necessary.
Continuous Improvement
Applies knowledge of accounting to evaluate established controls and standardized procedures, identifies opportunities for improvements and alternatives to improve efficiencies within department, and assists in developing and making recommendation to management when appropriate
Champion change throughout the organization.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or related field
5+ years of progressive experience in finance/accounting
Experience working with complex financial systems, processes and databases
Excellent PC experience, particularly with Microsoft Office Applications
Organized and self-motivated with high standards for accuracy, customer service and efficiency
Demonstrate desire and aptitude to quickly learn new information and adapt to change
Excellent written and oral communication skills
3+ years of experience with an ERP system
Preferred Qualifications: Manufacturing company experience, ideally in the food business and consumer products industry preferred
JD Edwards is preferred but not required.
