Position Description: Development Director, non-exempt part-full time position


The Development Director oversees our donor relations program and manages our fundraising initiatives. They will be responsible for developing our non-profit's fundraising campaigns, communicating with current and prospective donors, and building a stronger development team for our organization. This position involves managing individual and corporate gifts as well as planned and annual giving campaigns.


Mission: We empower those experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, sexual health concerns, and relational poverty to transform their lives through life coaching, practical assistance, education outreach, and community partnerships.


Essential Functions:


DONOR ENGAGEMENT AND EVENT PLANNING (40%)

· Develop and oversee our annual fundraising program

· Generate an annual engagement calendar of activities for donors and alumni to engage in

· Evaluate effectiveness of events, institute learning into future offerings

· Collaborate with staff on the management and planning of fundraising events and donor receptions

· Research public and private grant sources (agencies, corporations and foundations) to identify sources of restricted and unrestricted funding

· Organize individual donor campaigns (major donors, direct mail and board trustees)

· Organize solicitation drives for pledges of ongoing support from individuals, corporations, and foundations

· Cultivate donors by producing specialized correspondences, preparing letters of acknowledgment, scheduling and attending in-person visits

· Establish a Planned Giving Society to encourage others to make planned gifts

COMMUNICATIONS and MARKETING (30%)

· Actively engage and maintain ongoing communication with prospective and current donors via phone and in-person meetings

· Develop print marketing collateral related to fundraising in collaboration with our advertising partners

· Supervises most development/public affairs matters, particularly the creation of various communications such as the annual donor report, newsletter, recognition correspondence, as well as general content for website

· Review the organization’s strategic marketing plan, public relations and procedures annually and make changes as necessary


CULTIVATE NEW AND INDIVIDUAL DONORS (25%)

· Research, qualify, and cultivate current and prospective donors

· Develop and implements strategic steps to build relationships that will result in gifts in support of the organization’s priorities

· Capture significant relationship activities, financial projections, and donor information in Network for Good, as it relates to the development portfolio

· Leverage database to research donors and alumni

· Provide regular reporting and analysis on prospective donors and gifts

RECORDS AND ACCOUNTING (5%)

· Maintain accurate donor giving records

· Ensure timely and accurate report deliveries to funders

· Maintain accurate accounting of all restricted/unrestricted gift income and its sources


Essential Qualifications:

· At least 2 years of nonprofit fundraising/development experience, preferably with significant foundation and high donor fundraising experience

· Ability to successfully plan, lead, and execute events with diverse audiences

· Communicates with passion and empathy to initiate contact with donors through various forms of communication – orally, in-person or on the phone and written in mailings and digital platforms

· Commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity as a team member with a natural affinity for building effective stakeholder and peer relationships

· Ability to problem solve, collaborate, organize and accomplish multiple projects

· Self-motivated and organized

· Advanced computer, design, and data management proficiency

· Experience working with nonprofits

· Ability to be at events, self-transport and move event equipment to offsite locations


Compensation:

· Compensation will be commensurate with experience

· Paid personal time off and holidays per policy
