MTL is hiring a Bookkeeper

The bookkeeper handles the day-to-day tasks of recording financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchase orders, banking, and payments. The bookkeeper also processes monthly payroll. MTL uses QuickBooks as our financial accounting platform. You may also assist with basic HR duties like new hire documents, compliance, and temporary disability insurance and workers’ compensation filings.


  • • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred

  • • Previous bookkeeping and payroll experience preferred

  • • 3-5 years relevant experience working in bookkeeping or related field

  • • Data entry skills

  • • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy

  • • Analyzing information and dealing with complexity

  • • Confidentiality

  • • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • • Proficient skills in QuickBooks, Automatic Data Processing (ADP), and Microsoft Office Suite


  • • Manage the accounts payable function including reviewing, coding, and processing payments

  • • Perform accounts receivable functions including invoicing, deposits, collections, and revenue recognition

  • • Dealing with foreign currency transactions

  • • Managing cash flow and balance lines of credit

  • • Perform payroll functions in an accurate and timely manner, and submit payroll taxes

  • • Conduct reconciliation of all accounts monthly

  • • Maintain and balance the general ledger in an accurate, complete, and up-to-date manner

  • • Prepare financial reports through collection, analysis, and summarization of data

  • • Send monthly rent invoices to tenants

  • • Calculate and submit quarterly Minnesota and California Use Tax
