As a Full-Time Healthcare Financial Counselor at Minnesota Urology P.A. in Bloomington, MN, you will play a crucial role in managing patient accounts and balances. You'll ensure accurate billing and timely claims processing to maximize reimbursement. In this position, you will serve as the primary resource for patients, staff, and payers, tackling financial questions and resolving insurance issues. Your key responsibilities will include answering patient calls about account balances and financial assistance options, assisting with payment plans, and processing refunds efficiently.
You will also investigate denied claims and monitor aging accounts to ensure that all discrepancies are addressed. Collaborating with clinical staff and third-party payers, you will work diligently to reconcile payments and maintain precise account records, contributing significantly to a seamless healthcare experience for our patients.

Familiarity with third-party payors, as well as knowledge of ICD-10/CPT codes and prior authorization processes, will greatly benefit your effectiveness in this role. Additionally, experience with claims follow-up and patient refunds is vital for ensuring timely reimbursement.
Proficiency in using Athena EMR or similar systems will enhance your ability to navigate patient accounts and collaborate with clinical staff efficiently. Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills will also be fundamental in maintaining a patient-centered approach within the team.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
High School Diploma / GED required. Associate's or higher preferred.
2-3+ years of healthcare experience including patient account management billing or revenue cycle functions.
Experience with third-party payors, ICD-10/CPT codes, prior authorizations, claims follow-up, and patient refunds.
Knowledge of Athena EMR or similar systems preferred.
