Legal Assistant
Solo attorney law office, Karl F. von Reuter, located in downtown Minneapolis that represents employees in state and federal workers' compensation claims seeks a legal assistant. The candidate need not necessarily have legal education or previous experience working at a law firm, if demonstrates ability and enthusiasm to learn a wide range of tasks and to work with detail.
The position requires in person work at the office in downtown Minneapolis. Philosophy and mission of the law office is to provide counsel and representation for individuals to develop agency and autonomy to make decisions throughout litigation process.
Compensation: Yearly salary of $42,500; parking in ramp downtown adjacent to office building is paid by law office. The position does not offer health insurance or other benefits.
Hours: The position generally requires 40 hours of work per week: Monday through Friday 8:00 to 5:00 with normal breaks. The office is closed holidays. Flexibility is offered for reduced hours once the employee demonstrates competence and efficiency to complete work promptly. Because this is a small law office, the position has flexibility with hours.
Start Date: The law office seeks to hire an individual as soon as possible.
Job Description: The legal assistant position involves a wide range of tasks and skills. The position requires interpersonal conversational skills on the telephone, in person and electronically with clients, law firms, courts and other professionals.
Position requires ability to draft various documents including letters, pleadings filed with court system and navigate online communication with Minnesota Court of Administrative Hearings, Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry as well as United States Department of Labor Seaport.
Position requires efficiency using Microsoft Outlook including Mail, Calendar, Word and Excel. The position requires ability to work with detail and information management. Other administrative tasks are also involved.
