This position may have the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.
Join us in shaping the future of transportation in Minnesota by leading the state’s travel demand modeling efforts. In our Statewide Travel Demand Modeling Director role, you will direct the statewide travel demand forecasting program, guiding the development, refinement, and application of models and tools that inform critical transportation decisions. The individual in this position will also:
· Collaborate closely with the Metropolitan Council and other Metropolitan Planning Organizations to conduct travel behavior inventories and ensure that regional and statewide models work together seamlessly. Your expertise will help integrate modeling into planning, programming, project development, and policy analysis, supporting data-driven decisions across the agency.
· Play a key role in supporting the Transportation Impact Assessment Technical Advisory Committee, ensuring MnDOT’s models meet legislative requirements for evaluating greenhouse gas emissions and vehicle miles traveled. This position offers the opportunity to lead innovative modeling work that directly supports Minnesota’s transportation goals and environmental commitments.

Here are the Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of professional supervisory (supervising professional employees) experience OR four years of advanced professional transportation planning experience.
Experience must also demonstrate the following:
Experience with travel demand modeling theory and practices.
Experience working as a project leader or lead worker.
Experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis and research techniques.
Experience interpreting and applying federal and state transportation planning legislation, regulations, and guidelines.
Note: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Sociology, Political Science, Public Policy substitutes for six months of advanced professional experience.
