Human Resources Specialist

Classification: Part-Time, 24 hrs/wk, Non-Exempt

Ministry Area: People and Strategy – Human Resources

Location: Chanhassen

Reports to: Director of People and Strategy

Ministry Area Purpose: 

Human Resources exists to deliver value-added people strategies and innovative solutions with excellence for God’s Kingdom.


Role:

To provide overall assistance to the Human Resources department, while leading the strategic objective to recalibrate, document, and manage processes and approaches for recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding. 


Responsibilities:

· Sourcing and Recruiting:

     o Partner with Department Managers to plan staffing needs and requests

     o Develop extensive networks and establish relationships with schools

     o Create job postings and utilize various recruitment sources

     o Handle all incoming resumes, distribute new applications to hiring managers, and track and communicate dispositions

     o Create and maintain a standard approach to the interview process

· Staffing and Onboarding:

     o Facilitate decision-making with Department Managers to determine hire and extend and negotiate job offers

     o Conduct background and reference checks for new hires and volunteers

     o Facilitate New Hire orientation, prepare onboarding welcome kits, and continually improve the presentation and delivery of the new hire folder and materials

· HR Information:

     o Create and maintain personnel files and new hire records in payroll/HRIS systems

     o Assist HR Manager and Department personnel to write/update job descriptions

     o Track recruiting success metrics such as candidate experience, budget adherence, and other relevant data points

     o Support the review process with notification and tracking systems to assure timely 90-day and annual reviews

· Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

· Someone who lives a life that honors God in heart, actions, and relationships, with the goal of becoming more like Jesus

· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred

· PHR or SHRM-CP preferred

· Two years’ experience in human resources or related positions in secular or Christian settings

· Recruiting experience preferred

· Proficient with Microsoft Office tools

· Experience with databases and/or HRIS

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

· Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously 

· Ability to apply strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to drive results

· Ability to handle confidential information professionally

· Endorse and support Westwood’s Statement of Faith

· Maintain regular attendance in a local church
