Description

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) is seeking a Public Fingerprinting Clerk in the Central Records Unit. This position will fingerprint members of the public for various reasons including adoptions, job applications, identification, or immigration. The Public Fingerprinting Clerk will have regular contact with members of the public, and may have limited, indirect (through glass) contact with inmates who are being booked into the Hennepin County jail.

Location and hours:

This position is located at the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility (PSF) in downtown Minneapolis at 401 South 4th Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55415. The primary work schedule for this position will be less than 20 hours per week and include day, afternoon, evening, night, and weekend shifts.

About the position type:

This is a limited duration (temporary), part-time, non-benefit earning position with a duration of up to two years.

This position is internally classified as an Office Specialist I.

In this position, you will:

• Provide fingerprinting services to members of the public with accuracy and professionalism.

• Engage with community members in person, by phone, and online to provide clear, informative support on public fingerprinting services and policies.

• Partner with records clerks to maintain accurate custody and warrant records, take booking photos, and perform a range of important administrative duties.

Need to have:

• One of the following:

o One year or more of office clerical experience.

o Six months or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training program.

o One year or more of post-high school education.

• Flexibility working various shifts including days, afternoons, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Nice to have:

• One year or more of full-time fingerprinting experience.

• Experience:

o Providing in-person and telephone customer service to a diverse range of clients.

o Using computer systems to input, retrieve, and update information with accuracy.

o Performing data entry from paper documents and forms into digital records.

o Demonstrating proficiency with computer software, databases, and specialized equipment.

• Ability to:

o Work effectively and professionally with the public, Sheriff’s Office personnel, and county staff.

o Read and follow detailed instructions, locate and retrieve information, and use sound judgment when resolving issues.

o Communicate clearly and professionally in both verbal and written forms.
