Description

Be there for life's milestones. As a Service Center Representative, you will provide couples with their marriage license, process a new driver's first permit, and help residents understand their real estate tax payments. Every day, our service centers process hundreds of transactions and each one is unique to the customer. This job may be a match for you if you are customer-focused, detail-oriented, have good communication, data entry, and time management skills.

These positions will start at $23.5664 per hour.

Location and hours:

These positions are onsite and customer-facing at the following locations. Other locations may open in the future.

·       Brookdale Service Center: 6125 Shingle Creek Parkway, Brooklyn Center, MN 55430

·       Maple Grove Service Center: 9325 Upland Lane North, Maple Grove, MN 55369

·       Ridgedale Service Center: 12601 Ridgedale Drive, Minnetonka, MN 55305

·       Southdale Service Center: 1225 Southdale Center, Edina, MN 55435

·       Midtown Service Center: 2929 Chicago Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55407

Work hours will be Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Hours may change in the future or include additional evening and/or Saturday hours. 


Work location will be assigned by the hiring manager based on business needs and locations selected in supplemental questions.

All new hires spend their first three days of employment at the Government Center (downtown Minneapolis) with the Service Centers’ Learning and Development Unit. During the first month, new hires will complete an onboarding program with that same unit at their assigned service center. Post onboarding, there are monthly trainings hosted by our department and our business partners that should be attended/reviewed. 


Note: 

the onboarding program may take place at another center (not their ‘home center’) due to training needs.

New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire. 


About these position types:

These are full and part time, benefit earning positions.

These positions are internally classified as a Service Center Representative.

In these positions, you will:

·       Provide the following list of services: marriage applications, licenses and certificates (including same-sex and opposite-sex marriages); driver's licenses, permits and IDs; motor vehicle tabs, plates, titles and registrations; watercraft, snowmobile and ATV registrations; birth and death certificates; hunting and fishing licenses; auctioneer, transient merchant, lawful gambling, liquor licenses, and precious metals dealers; notary services and notary commission filings; cross country ski licenses; marriage officiant filings; voter registration; and real estate tax payments.

·       Prepare and process various applications/documents for county and state agencies and collect appropriate fees.

·       Provide accurate and complete information and instructions to the public regarding laws, policies, and procedures, and resolve routine customer complaints.

·       Accurately enter data and update records into various county and state programs.

·       Maintain working knowledge of laws, policies, and procedures to process transactions.

·       Perform cashiering, reception desk, and telephone duties.


Need to have:

·       One of the following:

o   Six or more months of experience performing public sector service center transactions.

o   Eighteen or more months of general clerical and customer service experience.

o   12 months or more of general clerical and customer service experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training program.

o   Six months or more of general clerical and customer service experience and completion of an approved business school or relevant technical college program.

·       Access to reliable transportation to travel to other Service Center locations within the Twin Cities metropolitan area as needed.

·       Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time on concrete floors.


Nice to have:  

·       Spanish language speaking ability. 

·       Experience:

o   Processing driver's licenses and/or motor vehicle renewals.

o   Processing high volume of transactions in a face-to-face, high-paced environment.

o   Using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, or other similar computer applications in a work setting.

o   Handling cash transactions routinely in a work setting.

·       Ability to understand laws, policies, rules, and regulations relating to service center transactions.

·       Ability to bend, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Candidates with fluency in other languages in addition to English are encouraged to apply. Bilingual candidates who pass a language assessment may qualify for additional bilingual pay and duties.
