Description
The Hennepin County Public Works, Fleet Services division is seeking a Fleet Services Foreman. This position will supervise, review, and evaluate work of the night shift which provides centralized fleet management services for all county departments at the fleet maintenance facility. The fleet includes a mix of cars, light and heavy-duty trucks, off road equipment, boats, snowmobiles, and emergency vehicles.

Location and hours:
This position is located at the Public Works Facility at 1600 Prairie Drive, Medina, Minnesota, 55340. There is no public transportation to this facility. Work hours are Monday through Thursday, 2:00 p.m. - 12:30 a.m. This position requires to be on-call after hours duty, which includes weekends, and holidays on a rotating schedule. Hours will vary during the winter season based on snow and ice control needs.

In this position, you will:
· Schedule and supervise a shift of mechanics, welders, and service workers in the maintenance, repair, and modification of automotive and heavy equipment; evaluate employee performance and determine overtime and standing schedules.
· Support the schedule, determine work priorities and make decisions on the scope of work to be made.
· Identify equipment failure and generate computerized repair orders.
· Oversee work in progress and upon completion; assist in difficult repair work and in training mechanics.
· Enforce safety regulations and inspect equipment to determine need for repair..
· Supervise the refurbishing and customizing of county equipment.
· Work with representatives of other county departments to schedule repair, maintenance, and modification of vehicles and schedule outside repairs.
· Keep computerized records of equipment service and repair with fleet management software; assist in ordering parts.
· Approve timecards and conduct annual reviews for staff.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Five or more years of journey/lead worker level experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline or diesel-powered equipment.
o Four or more years of journey/lead worker level experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline or diesel-powered equipment and completion of an approved job-related technical training program or thirty (30) or more semester credits (45 or more quarter credits) in job-related technical courses or public works management courses from an accredited school, college or university.
· A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.
Nice to have:
· Supervisory and/or lead worker experience.
· Experience:
o Working with methods, materials, and equipment used in repair and maintenance of gasoline or diesel-powered equipment.
o Working with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook/Express, Excel, Teams & Word) or other electronic email/calendar packages.
o Using Asset WorksM5 or another fleet maintenance software.
· Ability to:
o Manage and direct various levels of staff.
o Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
o Make decisions in a timely manner, based on analysis, experience, and judgment.
