Description
Hennepin County's Grants Management and Administration (GMA) department is seeking two Grants Specialists to work across the organization to ensure that departments pursuing and managing grants are supported throughout the entire grant lifecycle. This position will provide direction for the organization’s grant management and administration functions. This position will also ensure grants are managed and implemented equitably and effectively, consistent with state and federal requirements.
We will be hiring for two positions - one position will support Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCCR) and Human Services and Public Health (HSPH) areas and the other will support all other areas and the Youth Activities grants program.

Location and hours:
These positions are hybrid and will be performed both on-site at Hennepin County's 625 building at 625 4th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55415, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will primarily be Monday through Friday, with typical hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with some flexibility. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.
New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

In these positions, you will:
· Implement and oversee the grant process for the organization to ensure departments pursuing and managing grants are supported throughout the entire lifecycle: pre-award, award/administration, management/monitoring, and closeout/post-award.
· Develop and provide tools, guidance and support for organization-wide grant administration and management competency.
· Work with internal and external partners to problem solve and implement solutions collaboratively.
· Conduct risk assessments, site visits and reviews to identify opportunities for improvement.
· Operationalize new grant processes, managing change and mitigating risk.
· Update SharePoint site pages, and other applications to reflect updated and relevant information.
· Support the GMA Office (across all teams) with ordering supplies, submitting P-card expenditures and requisitions, and working with accounting manager and other GMA staff to validate expenditures.
· Route documents for approval and required signatures.
· Manage shared email accounts, establish and manage intake processes, and coordinate responses to best deliver excellent customer service.
· Respond to inquiries and questions, in consultation with subject matter expert and/or managers, in a timely manner.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Six or more years of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position.
§ Note: General administrative work is defined as the administration and/or management of programs, policies, and/or budgets.
o Bachelor's degree or higher in public administration, business administration, or other field appropriate to the position and two or more years of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position.
Nice to have:

o With grant processes including review panels and grants administration and/or management.
o With planning coordination and/or project management.
o Gathering or using end-user and stakeholder feedback to determine how a project or solution is designed or implemented.

o Creating PowerPoint presentations or developing reports to guide a conversation or communicate information to varied and non-technical audiences.
