Our Internal Audit & Internal Control Supervisor position will be responsible for reporting the results of audit activities to management & providing independent, objective assurance & advice to management on issues that present material risk to the agency. It prepares & executes the annual internal audit plan, taking into consideration identified areas of high risk & audits required by statute or policy. This position leads the Internal Audit & Internal Control unit in MnDOT’s Office of Audit.
In addition, this position plans, coordinates, & assigns work to ensure that the annual audit plan is completed efficiently, effectively, independently, & accurately. It provides leadership, supervision, & oversight of staff & audit processes. This position will:
· Supervise complex internal performance, information systems, & investigative audits on agency processes, systems, programs, & operations.
· Ensure audits are performed following generally accepted government auditing standards.
· Seek & implement continuous improvement in audit processes & procedures.
· Review work papers for completeness & provide feedback & coaching to staff.
· Report audit results, findings, & recommendations to agency leaders.
Safeguarding MnDOT
This position is also responsible for supervising & directing the work activity of Safeguarding MnDOT, a group that works extensively with senior agency leaders to ensure strong internal controls are in place across the agency through the development of risk assessments. It ensures internal & external audit findings are well documented & communicated & appropriate corrective actions have been implemented across the agency. Additionally, this position is responsible for completing & communicating MMB’s annual internal control certification.
In-state travel is required up to 25% of the time; this includes some overnight travel.
This position will have the flexibility to telecommute, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to complete a telework agreement. The incumbent may be expected to work in the office on occasion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of professional supervisory experience OR four years of advanced professional (MAPE 10L or higher) auditing experience that demonstrates at least 3 of the following:
(*NOTE: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business (with an accounting concentration) substitutes for six months of advanced professional experience)
Experience supervising, conducting, or responding to financial audits, performance audits, investigations, quality reviews, and/or risk assessments.
Experience applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Government Auditing Standards (Yellow Book), operational auditing concepts, compliance with auditing principles and/or Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government (Green Book).
Experience analyzing financial data and legal compliance requirements, including laws, federal regulations, and state rules, policies, and procedures.
Experience developing internal controls and/or risk assessments.
