Description

The Development Services unit, in the Enterprise Development Division of IT is seeking a Quality Assurance intern. We are looking to enhance and grow our automated software testing capabilities. Come be part of an exciting and engaging team of software development staff, focused on creating quality applications to support residents, businesses, and the communities of Hennepin County. This position requires a level three security check as a requirement for employment.

Location and hours:This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site an average of 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours are Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. This internship will start in March 2024 and will last for up to two years in duration. The intern will work approximately 20 hours/week. While this position is designated as remote, hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota.
New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable after completion of 6 months of employment.

In this position, you will:
· Establish relationships with IT staff and business partners to ensure quality products.
· Conduct Quality Assurance tests, helping to improve software quality.
· Coordinate communication to technical and non-technical partners.
· Learn about Quality Assurance tools and practices.
Need to have:
· Current enrollment or recent graduate (within 6 months) in an IT certificate, associates, or bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Information Technology, or a related field.
· Access to reliable internet connection and self-support remote office space.
Nice to have:
· Experience with:
o Software testing, developing automated testing scripts, and/or documenting results.
o Writing JavaScript.
o Quality Control and Quality Assurance.
o Cypress, or other automated testing tools.
· Interest in:
o Supporting business practices through technology.
o Accessibility and usability.
· Exposure to web application development.
