Hennepin County's Information Technology department is hiring an IT Security Analyst I for the Security Operations team. You'll be an important member of the team that helps manage IT security across the enterprise of 9,000+ employees. As an IT Security Analyst, I you will be responsible for protecting Hennepin County’s information systems by monitoring, detecting, and responding to security incidents. As a member of our Security Operations Center (SOC) team, you will follow the full cycle of security incidents. You will collaborate with other technical and business staff to identify and remediate risks while supporting an agile, innovative technology environment. Incumbents must continuously learn and adapt to an ever-changing risk landscape, stay current on changing security tools, tactics, techniques, and procedures. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a passion for the security area of information technology and be driven to protect Hennepin County.

Location and hours:
This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., including some on-call hours. Based on the business needs for this position, individuals must reside in Minnesota or have approval to work from a state authorized by Hennepin County as approved for out-of-state remote work. For a complete listing of allowable states, click here. Candidates must currently reside in or be willing and able to relocate to Minnesota or one of the approved states. Employees living out of state are responsible for all travel expenses when required to come on-site. Individuals who do not reside in or are not willing to relocate to one of these states will not be considered.New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

This is a full-time, benefit earning position. This position is internally classified as a level one within the Information Technology (IT) Analyst job classification series. At this time, employees may be eligible to receive an additional cash merit of up to $1,636.79 that can be earned annually based on performance.
In this position, you will:
· Serve as a member of the Information Security/Security Operations Center Team.
· Serve in and support the Security Operations Center.
· Analyze data from log correlation, threat intelligence, and SIEM tool(s) to identify, correlate, and mitigate risks to the Hennepin County cyber infrastructure.
· Identify, investigate, and mitigate information security risks in coordination with other Information Security staff.
· Participate in relevant Information Security projects.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Four years or more of experience in information technology.
o Associate's/vocational/technical degree in cyber security, computer science, management information systems (MIS), information technology or an approved information technology field related to the position and two years or more of IT experience.
o Completion of five college/vocational technical technology courses and two years or more of IT experience.
o Completion of approved IT Hennepin County internship and two years or more of IT experience.
o Bachelor's degree or higher in cyber security, computer science, management information systems (MIS), information technology or an approved information technology field related to the position.
Nice to have:
· Relevant Cybersecurity certificate (Security+, GIAC certificates, other).
· Experience:
o Working in a local government organization.
o Using automated systems and applications monitoring tools.
· Knowledge of cross-platform environments and/or networks.
· Analytical problem-solving skills.
· Effective decision-making skills.
· Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
